Remember Who You Are
This is a theme that keeps coming up for me. In reading, in watching, in existing… Remembrance. Remembering where I came from, remembering the work to get the skills and hone the talents that I all but squander today.
I work with compassion and empathy. Whether in my own business or in someone else’s. People, in general, resist change – even when it’s the best thing for them. There’s almost always push-back. “You want me to do what to be more secure? That’s scary!” “You want me to give away my best work for free? How will I get paid?”
We can be generous and compassionate without being doormats – and reap rewards. Whatever we do, we can choose to do with love, or with fear and resistance.
I’m reminded of the scene in Game of Thrones where Olenna advises Danny to be who she is. Instead of trying to be like the others, remember who you are and BE that, with as much love & empathy as you can muster.
And the occasional burned bridge. Because… dragons.
